Marie-Louise Babon-Folus (1914 – 2003) French painter Marie-Louise Babon-Folus was a French painter whose work belongs to the tradition of mid-20th-century figurative painting. She was born in 1907. Working mainly in oil on canvas, Babon-Folus favoured still-life subjects — especially flowers — and quiet, everyday scenes. Titles recorded in museum and auction sources include Les Gaillardes (c.1956), Roses de Noël (before 1966), Les Anémones, Bouquet, and Retour de promenade (1957). Her brushwork and palette reflect a representational style typical of post-war French art rather than the abstract or avant-garde trends of the same decades. Evidence from museum holdings and market records suggests she was professionally active from the mid-1950s through at least the early 1970s. Several canvases carry “Salon” stamps, including one explicitly marked “Salon 1957”, indicating acceptance into a juried Paris Salon. Although detailed documentation of her training or affiliations has not yet surfaced, the presence of her works in public collections demonstrates peer and institutional recognition. Today Babon-Folus is represented in the Musée des Augustins, Toulouse, which preserves a group of her still lifes, and her paintings occasionally appear in French art auctions and antique galleries.
